Do you know your B series stuff? I have question for you!

Here is the deal,
I have a 92 CX Hatch with a 95 JDM GSR in it. It has a USDM stock Type r header installed as the stock one was too short to reach the cat. Now a friend want to trade my projector headlights for his DC 4-2-1 2 piece ceramic header. It is coming off a 97 Integra GS.

My question is, will it be the same length as the type R, so it will bolt up no problem? Will it flow the same as the one made for the GSR? Is the only difference in the headers the length? They all the same diameter?

Should I trade or not? Will it fit?

Kurt

should be same length as the USDM one but best bet is to measure both and compare

I know that DC Sports has different part #'s for the GS-R and non-Vtec models. But I would measure it up first like gatherer said.

Ya I checked the DC site. I though maybe they were the same lenght but different diameters.

They are the same length! I know this for sure! I would have measured them both if I had both of them, but I didnt that was how this whole post started. The stock type R header is the same lenght but they have different tube diameters! I think a DC header for a LS/RS/GS would be to restrictive for a GSR!

kurt,
sorry man but I'm confident to say that it won't fit. There are actually many different combinations and lengths when dealing with B series motors, particularly when comparing aftermarket to USDM to JapaneseDomesetic MArket stuff...
sorry, but I've heard too many horror stories about header/manifold/ etc lengths varying.

If it fits, you are lucky,

just my 2 cents.

the ls header will nto fit....the usdm type r header isn't the good tube style jdm 98 spec r header wiht the 2.5 inch collector....just keep what you got until you can afford the jdm 2.5 header

there is no such thing as a usdm type-r manifold, its the same thing as any other stock b-series exhaust manifolds. Only the jdm b18c-r's had a header that was stock. As for being too short, its off a b16, the 1.6 block is shorter than our 1.8 blocks, therefore its too short.

The dc header will work fine, just has a smaller collector than the one for the R. Will work WAY better than that POS exhaust manifold thats on there nwo.

the header did fit after i took it off the car installed the dc header and then had to take it all off cuz the **** didn't want the part after an agreement was set (did i mention i did all this work for free, missing work, and driving out of my way to do this) it was about 1.5-2.0 inches shorter than the type r header, howeve rrubber exhaust hangers stretch and it would have fit if kurt had kept to his word.
