Do I need a camber Kit?

Hi All

I have a 2000 Honda Civic SE. I'm thinking of lowering it about 1 1/2'. Would I need camber kit?
I am running on 17' rims right now with stock hight. I was looking at getting Honda Civic 96-00 KYB GR2 Gas Shocks and Honda Civic All 96-00 Dropzone Adjustable Coilovers. Do anyone know of any good store or sites to order parts from?

Thanks in advance.

What ever you do try to stay away from Dropzone stuff. The price is what attracts most people obviously but their products are garbage. The KYBs how ever are good and reliable. With a small drop like that you shouldnt worry too much about camber wear, should be fine. And just for some advise, try to get full coilovers or struts. ie. Omni, Tein...ect.....If your not looking to spend that much and still want a nice clean drop i would strongly reccomend Nuspeed Sport springs...

no, if you lower anymore than 2 inches then you would probably need one. lowering it 1.5 should still keep you within stock specs.

if you want to lower 1.5 only go with springs. it will be more comfortable and i doubt you will touch the coilovers once they are installed on the car. on 1.5 it's still fine to drive in the winter. my car is dropped 1.75 and i drive it the way it is in the winter. 1.5 is not much of a drop though, you barely notice it. go get some tein s techs, they're a 1.8 front / 1.6 rear drop. those are designed to work with stock struts so you should be ok.

i have the same question and i have heard from ppl here about camber wear on their tires with only a 1.3" drop (aftermarket springs and shocks)

second, are stock shocks with aftermarket springs is always a good combination? regardless if its a good brand like tein or no...if u read through this section.....most experienced users say that the shocks blow eventually.

When I had my 98, I drove around for almost 2 years with the stock shocks paired with H&R Sport springs. I eventually replaced the shocks with Koni Reds and sold the un-blown OEM ones to someone who is still happy with them.

I think it really depends on the driving you do and the types of roads you drive on. An aggressive driver on really bad roads will ruin the shocks quick. A daily driver on the highway like mine mostly was helped them last longer.

I had no real noticeable camber problems, but the front toe was way off and toe ruins tires faster the camber does.

I'd forget about the Dropzones and get a quality set of springs. Get them installed correctly and have an alignment done after a few weeks once the springs settle.

it depends on the springs. the s techs ARE designed to work with stock struts. i have a few friend who's been riding on them for quite some time now and the ride isn't all bad at all which was quite surprising to me.
