Isn't there an emergency way of closing it? I'm 100% sure that my 98 has a small panel in the headliner that you can remove and turn a small device that manually closes the roof.

crx or civic like dumbasssi said i'm pretty sure there a round looking plug thing in the middle of the roof behind the sunroof (inside the car) remove it and there should be a allen key type thing that you need to turn. theres a tool in with the tire iron that came with the car if you still have the original stuff that fits perfectly, but if you dont have it you should be able to close it with the right size allen key
