d16y8 cam gear

the d16y8 cam gear has an UP indicator but it doesnt have the two alignment marks for aligning to the surface of the head...How do i find TDC for the valvetrain besides imagining the lines are there on a y8?

Line the TDC mark on the crank pulley up with the indicator on the plastic timing belt cover.

If you have the valve cover off and the plugs out, check to see if the piston is at the top of the bore and that there is clearance on both the intake and exhaust rocker arms. Another way to assure your in he ballpark is to pul the distributor cap and see when the rotor is pointing to the #1 terminal.

Hope this helps.
