Post Customized Short Throw Shifter

Recently, I had been debating as to whether or not i would install a short throw shift kit in my 92 Civic Si Hatch. The main reason i wanted to do it though, was because they look REALLY nice.

Then it came to me...why not shorten the stick that i already have installed.

I was just wondering if the stick itself is shaped so that i could simply cut a ways down, and reinstall the shifter knod.

Any thoughts?

you can cut the upright ****, but that's just a half job. The kit will have a counter weight at the bottom of the rod to help balance the throw. But essentially yes, cutting the shifter, and using a **** that doesn't screw on, will work

Would i have to bevel to rod or anything like that in order to make the shifter stay on?

Currently i have a momo shifter **** which requires inserts into the side of the rod to stay on.

it doesn't shorten the throws, it just makes the shifter lower to grab!
Its the ball part of the shifter that is moved up I believe to shorten the throws.
Either way you cut your shifter and its ghetto and your shift **** wont screw on and if you take the time to thread the end you might as well of bought a $30 short shifter (no name)

if u weld in a small extension at the bottom of the shifter where it meets with the linkage, you will shorten the throws

Yeah, if you are strapped for cash, just get one of those cheap aluminum shifters for $30.

I think i title this thread incorectly. My main goal was just to get the shifter rod shorter. As for the entire "short throw kit", that's somethin i plan on gettin later on down the line, and i don't plan on skimping out on that one either.

As for a shorter shifter rod however, do they actually sell those, and where would i be able to get one?... i really don't lie the layout of the websites hosted by the affiliates.
