has anybody here cut a stock shifter... and re-weld to make it into a short throw shifter?

or

take a short throw shifter... and do the same to make it even shorter?

is this safe? would it affect shifting or anything in any way?

I've cut a single bend short shifter before. outcome was not good. It was quite difficult getting into certain gears. Get a b&m dual bend short shifter, had it on my old car, it was absolutely amazing. loved it.

i myself have a fidanza short throw... but my buddy's 93 civic coupe is at another one of my buddy's body shop... and it will be there for another month since he's outta the country so I thought we could shock em lol... those stock shifters are so damn high in those civics

As long as you don't cut too much off it will be ok. I cut of about 1.5" off a short shifter and having the shifter in the boot was not too comfortable to shift nor it worked as well as it did before the cut.

fidanza short throw is the was to go I have one and I love it, I didn't use the stock **** thow. I went with one that ahd a bit of weight to it, nothing like the skunk 2 weight tho.
