>>>COILOVERS.....info...And othe stuff<<<
I've seen over the past few months that people are crapping on particular coilover kits. Ie R1's....Tom's Motorsports...Ractive...ect...
I just want poeple to understand why thier particular install went the way it did. Without knowing all the details, they are giving a false impression of these parts. You have to tell us ALL the details of the install, not just say...
Ie.....
I can say that I had a set of Ground Control coilovers, and they road like ****. They were bouncy and had a very harsh ride, and they were seized when I tried to take them off... and I would advise people not to spend their money on these peices of crap!
Now.....if I had mentioned that I had lowered my car 3" on the stock struts.....also my struts were 8 years old and need to be replaced because they are leaking....and that I also have 17" rims with 204/40/17 tires, and I never lubed the coilovers once over the 2 years of owning them.....it would make it obvious that ANY coilovers would perform the EXACT SAME WAY.
To say these coilovers are crap are a DISSERVICE to others in the club. I've seen these coilovers on 6 other cars so far. The only one that had a problem was the one that I gave an example of up above. (the leaking strut/17' rim comment).
ANY coilover installed improperly, and used in a manner not intended, WILL HAVE A HARSH RIDE......PERIOD.
They are not to be used on the road with a drop lower than 2" IMO. If you go lower than that, you are going to run into probs.
In the future, I would love to see that people would put ALL the info when it comes to any install they have done.
And that goes for ANY TYPE of install....ie stereo...perfomance parts....ect....(please try and give us all the info so we can get to the bottom of the problem.)
I've seen too many hack jobs that are blamed on the parts that were used, when the person that did the install should of been blamed.
ANY part when used/installed improperly will NOT have the intended outcome/performance that the manufacturer had intended....that goes for any part you install on your car.
So untill ALL the info is know, please withhold your comments.
Thanks.
PULOVR
PS....I'm not knocking the more expensive kits like CG or Skunk.....but some people are not willing to spend over a grand or more to go that route. If I had the cash flow, I'd look into getting these as well. I just wish poeple would understand that not everyone has this type of cash to spend, and they just want to lower their ride affordably. Yes there are Pro's and Con's of going the cheaper route, but for the average Joe/Jill, the more affodale route is more than enough.
My 2C's.

Right, even a good part can perform poorly when misused. That's agreed. But in terms of affordability, you cannot justify in any way, spending money on ANY PART that will REDUCE the quality of your Honda.
Example... you buy a Lexus with a stock Nakimichi (sp?) system... and you rip it all out, and you put in Walmart $89.99 Audiovox deck with $19.99 Jensen speakers... cuz they are a good deal.
Get what I'm saying???
Used springs sell for about $150 and will return a great ride. If you shocks are dead, you're looking at $600 to replace OEM shocks anyways, just get some Koni Special and away you go a happy man. Does that not make sense?
