coilovers

i have skunk2 coilovers for my eg hatch and the ride is a bit stiff and jumpy.....would i be able to mount my stock springs or type r springs onto my coilovers and still adjust the height of them?

if i just took out the skunk2 spring and instead mounted the stock spring on the sleeves?
thanks

question for you:

what kind of shocks do you have and what are they set too? what are the spring rates on the springs you got with the Skunk2 kit? and if you don't know just post the numbers that are on the springs

answer for your question:

no it won't work... <----- simple answer

complex anwser below

the sprinsg that are mounted on a coilover system have a flat top and flat bottom this allows them to sit on the adjustable perch.

The springs you get (whether they are stock springs or lowering springs) are flat on only one side this is because the lower perch is designed to hold the coil of a spring

someone had posted about cutting stock springs to use with coilover sleeves.... i guess you "could" but do you really want to? its not to much the spring rate that's giving you the sub par ride its the fact those springs on the coilovers are so short.... and if your on stock shocks well not much you can hope for

more info

Thanks a lot for your help guys....

I found the number on the box of my coilovers, it's
517-05-0740
The coilovers are made for 92-2000 civics i believe, and they are for street applications

While for shocks, I got KYB AGX adjustables........right now the setting is on "1", which is the softest i believe, would it solve the jumping of the car if I adjusted it to a higher number?

Thanks

yeah, you never know when your gonna come onto bad surfaces.....but at least my coils keep me from scraping my car on the ground...the only problem is the ride quality...should be a bit better

how low do you have the car dropped??

is that number on all springs??? the rears and fronts should have different numbers...

with that said if thats like the Eibach springs that ground controls come with then those numbers mean you have 740 lbs/inch springs ... yikes...

doing more research still to confirm this.. please to see if the fronts and backs are the same
