Check it + question
Hey y’all,
I need some help from you all. I am currently preparing to do a grounding kit on my car but have some questions.
First of all, I will be doing a daisy chain from the negative battery to x (desired locations). So everything is routing back to the negative battery terminal.
Check if this is okay.
Negative battery to chassis
Negative chassis end to transmission
transmission to x
and then x to new x basically a loop only touching a chassis ground once.
on and on.
________
Now the biggest concern I need help with is the alternator. Could I add the alternator ground to the “everything hooked up to negative battery terminal way”. I originally planned to do just this, add a ground wire from the -tive battery terminal to the alternator bracket. This is a part of the big 3 upgrade.
The problem I have is that I heard and reread that the alternator is positive so thus the alternator needs to be hooked up to the +positive end of the battery. Is this correct? If this is true I cannot hook up the alternator to my above list right?
I don’t want to short my alternator so this is why I am asking and have been having trouble answering this myself.
Any help and clarification would be great!
Thanks
