Castrol Synthetic Blend

Just purchased this to try out. Full synthetic is too expensive and I don't trust conventional oil so any opinions on this type of oil ???? its about $2.00 a Litre more than conventional and $3.00 cheaper than synthetic.

whats your call on this ??

if you dont' want expensive oil jsut use castrol gtx...it's good and get's teh job done nicely...I woudlnt' waste my moeny on a synthetic blend or any bs walmart syn oil...mobile and syntec are bullshit in my book jsut because I knwo what real race oil is and who makes good stuff....for the best try motul other than that mayeb mobile if you dont' want to spend money after that castrol gtx

yeah, synth blends are no better than regular Castrol GTX. reason being, synth is supposed to be great for resisting thermal breakdown. now, add say 50% petro oil, and now 50% of it is thermal breadown resistent, while the other 50% isn't. so what good is it?

only benefit I can think of that makes it worth the extra $2.00 is the fact is *may* help cold starts and circulate the oil faster than petro-juice would.

when you put it that way ... it would make blends 50% less likely to breakdown as opposed to conventional pretolium

no, only 50% of it would break down less, the other 50% breaks down at the same rate as petro-juice.

what if you blend your own motor oil?
Say I buy 4 litres of GTX and one litre of syntec.... would that be harmful to the motor and if not would it help in comparison to synthetic blends ??

Just wondering something...
... If the case is that you shouldn't mix, then why do they have on or near the label (of some brands) that it is safe to use with other conventional oils?

It's safe if you gotta top it off... but to do it purposefully it makes no sense.
