car cranking slowly.
this has happened a few weeks ago to me and now its doing it again. im assuming its cuz its cold out and i dont have enough cca to crank the engine. i tested it and i got 12.4/12.5V its supposed to be 12.6. would .5 make a difference starting in the cold?

could it be the alternator as well ? if i use a motomaster elimenator on my battery it starts faster.

if its a constant slow cranking,. It's your starter.
If it was your battery (which would be caused by a weak alternator) then it would start cranking at normal speed then start to slow down and eventually it just wouldnt crank anymore cause the batt. would be dead.

it cranks slowly constantly.. doesnt crank fast then slow. seems to only do it when its cold out. cranks fine with a boost. battery is at 12.5V. would cold weather make the starter do this ? as long as its not my alternator im happy.

Batteries can show 12.5 volt when idle, but under load the voltage on a crappy battery can drop a lot.
Alternatively, the other reason a slow crank can occur is from a faily starter.. Once the bearing starts to go, it takes a lot more to get it cranked, so it cranks much slower.
If you are boosting and it starts fine, then it's the battery. Get someone to crank the car while you are watching the battery voltage. Analog testers are better for this kind of stuff, but even with a digital tester, you'll notice the voltage drop significantly.
While the car is running you should get in 14+ volts. That means your alternator is fine.

i have been hearing a very low squeal at first start up when its been sitting over night.. maybe its the starter. i doubt its the alternator belt. its not very loud

squeal is usually belt. Your alternator belt may be a bit loose.
did you resolve the cranking issue?

It's the alternator belt from sitting, probably due to some moisture from running a hot engine then cold temp. And the battery is no good, comeon buddy I already told you, why you gotta DIZRESPEKT me. 12.4v is the bare minimum to even meet requirements in order to load test a battery.

lol.. shut up chris
im certain its not the alternator belt.. sounds more like something inside the engine.. maybe a seal .. which isnt good.
i havent resolved the cranking issue.. but im pretty sure its the battery since it starts up fine with a boost.. and after i got home from about a 15 minute drive it started up fine after i shut it offf.. the same thing happened a few weeks ago
