can i tune with laptop?

hi guys, i just got a laptop?
what can i do with the computer to tune my car?
it doesn't have turbo or nos yet.....i don't have a EMS
but if i get the EMS can i tune the fuel and improve performance with the car?
i just swapped and would like to tune my b18b to make the best of it....
and how can i hook up the laptop to my sound system in the car?
what would i need?

you still have a stock ecu right? what's been done to the engine there are better places to start..
