bore?

bore?
can you actually increase the bore on a d16?? i just measured and the walls are 7.025 mm thick... which to me seems really thin... so say increasing the bore to 77mm would make the engine 1676 cc... but a 5 mm cylinder wall... wonder if that would improve anything

not really worth it...just go for the next size up to cleaning the bores up or else yoru looking at custom pistons....to save lot's of cash run the dohc zc piston instead of expensive forged peices....or forged pistons with ls (b18b) rods machined to fit (way stronger)..some ideas to throw at ya

well for pistons i was thinkin of the pm7 or p29... they'll get the compression up there, then i just gotta bring it down to a more tame value... then maybe some eagle rods... i've read they have fixed the rod bolt problem and use apr 2000 bolts now i believe...

I'd run forged pistons jsut for the cooling and strenght factor with ls rods...or jsut save up mroe and run soem cheaper srp's with eagles and have a bullet proof setup....I'd look into block supporting like studding or a ****ty block guard jsut for soem added strenght to the bores

i found an interesting discovery today... apparently running p29 pistons will only bump the compression to 11.8:1... i was putting the wrong value in the one thing on that calculator... so hell i think i'm just gonna bust that up... it'd probably cost me $150 max for those pistons and bam i'd have a sweet little motor...

shot peening costs about $30-40 per rod from what I hear. Steve would be much better at answering that question. the process as Steve described it, relieves stress from the metal... kinda like a massage
as for parts selection and mixing and matching... I'd listen to the guy who's built I'm sure hundreds of motors in his lifetime ^^^

for all intensive purposes reving to stock levels is fine for me... if i was to rev higher i'd just put a b16 is
as for the shot peening i'm doing that through work so i'm pay a lot less then 30-40 per rod so i'm happy about that
and i'm not doubting steve's knowledge... its much more vast then mine... but aren't stock d series pistons fairly interchangable? for example p29 pistons? i've seen one engine and heard of many that are running that without trouble so it must work right?

like Steve said, you can't run aftermaket AND stock parts. you can all OEM parts or all aftermarket. there are many calculations to take into account, so be careful about your part choice. D-series builds are best researched on honda-tech or d-series.org
ppl on here who have d's also happen to have no cash to build them

i see what you mean... in the early stages of research i thought the p29 pistons with eagle rods would be nice... but ya i see...
for now its all gonna be oem parts aside from valve train... if it blows up it blows up i have enough parts in my garage to build a couple new z6's
thanks for the info though
