Block heater install

Block heater install
Well time to get the winter beater ready for wintertime.
Does anyone know how to install a block heater on a D16Z6?
I imagine there's a slug somewhere on the block that I have to unscrew and screw in the block heater?
Yes, no?

I'm pretty sure most block heaters just replace the coolant drain plug. Which should be located on the bottom end of your rad.

When you buy the block heater look at the instructions as they will show you where to put it. All motors are different.

Okay got the block heater. Mind you it didn't come with instructions.
After looking on the internet I found this intall for a TL
http://www.handa-accessories.com/tl/...r%20install%22
For those of you who are curious you are actually sort of both right.
The block heater replaces the drain bolt on the block, but not the drain PLUG in the rad.
I can't wait, looking forward to a warm winter in my car!

The purpose of a block heater is to heat the motor and the oil within it. Becasue when it is extremely cold the oil thickens and will not allow the motor to turn over properly. In turn your battery will drain of voltage to crank over the motor as it requires additional effort and eventually your battery will drain and your stuck.
But why buy a block heater? You do not need one anywhere near Toronto. There are rarely plugins where you park and you'll look like a goof with the plug hanging out of your grill. Hondas and Acuras rarley need a block heater and the few that do are driven in areas where it is -40.

No thats not how they work. Block heaters heat the block not the coolant in your rad.
