Black Carbon from tailpipe

I have a93 Del Sol with 1.5 L has 226000 km. There is alot of black carbon coming from tailpipe ... I have to get Etest will this affect my test???? It leaves a black strip if I rev it up in driveway...How do I fix this problem?????

could be your cat. a cat is somewhat of a carbon filter as well and without one you will see black smoke. i assume that if your cat is shot it will give a similar effect.

More likely what Cynical said. Your running rich! Time for a tuneup man. Double check your timing and go back to your stock intake if you want to have better chances at passing an E-test

I would take it to a shop that has a 4 gas emissions analyzer and have the carburetor checked.

I had a similar issue and it was the fact that I was running rich. In my case the MAF sensor hole in the TB was plugged up so it did not know what to run at so it richened the mix out to the max. Have you recently changed anything on your setup? do you get a CEL light?
