bang for the buck header

I would like to know who makes a better header (ie company). I hear a lot about DC Sports but are they the best company?I would like your opinions. Note: I don't want no Ractive stuff or similar products.I am willing to spend money on a good product.

My brother is running a header from Landspeed Racing. He saw the header featured in the PowerPages of Import Tuner magazine and it put up some good numbers on the dyno.

the ractive header makes the most horse on a stock b16, but dont expect much power for a header anyways

I'm thinking about installing hedman headers on my car. Cheaper than DC, more expensive than Ractive. They've been making headers since the muscle car days...just recently have they broken into the sport compact market.

Header will do SFA unless you do a complete system ie: high flow cat & responator and free flow design muffler. Plus the best gains are had in combination of a less restrictive intake as well.

Should be very helpful, thanx.

I will be doing the whole exhaust, obviously I don't expect to see amazing numbers from a header on a stock motor.

Depends on the motor this will be hooking up to and how much you're willing to spend. I would stay away from companies like Ractive. That's just a waste of money. If people say it's really good, then how come you never see dyno charts with that header on?
Anyways, I see in your avatar that you have an 88 DX. Honestly, don't buy one unless you're getting an excellent deal. Reason? If you're planning on spending $500 - $1000 on a header, which will give you (if you're lucky) a maximum of probably 5 horsepower, you might as well save up just a bit more and pick up a 1st gen B16, which will give you an extra 50 hp (give or take a few hp). If you compare the price to horsepower, I gaurantee you'll be much happier with the swap.

Just my $0.02

Would the DC Sports Stainless Steel 4-2-1 one-piece header be any good on the D16y7 with cold air intake and full cat back exhaust? If I do decide to purchase headers, I will be installing the headers, CAI and Catback all at the same time but this one won't be any time soon. I am just trying to gather as much information because I don't see an engine swap for awhile, so in the meantime, I'll just try to squeeze out as many HP out of the D16y7.

Ractive headers are good. You don't see lots of dynos for many products because no one ever was interested in doing them...All they do are big name companies like AEM, etc...Its all the same companies...

Ummm. I think you're completely wrong. There's no dynos cuz they can't perform like the way Mugen, Spoon or any of those bigger name companies. There's also a quality difference.

Vato,

I just did the old I/E/H on my D16Y7 and it's barely noticeable. I only did it cus it cost just a bit more than replacing my cracked exhaust manifold. It looks nice, sounds good, but there's really not much power over stock. with the amount of money i spent on rims, suspension, exhaust this summer i could have had a nice engine swap.
