B16A Wiring....

Guys,
As you all know, I have had a bad experience with a local pro shop here in Guelph. This job was by paid in full by myself already. The shop was hired to complete an engine & tranny swap. I had the stock 1997 Civic Si engine and an automatic transmission before the swap. I now have a B16A -JDM with Standard Transmission.

The swap is pretty much completed and I should hope so, since the shop has had my car since Oct 4th 2003. The only thing left for them to complete is the wiring.

From what I understand the car I have has ODB2 and the new engine is ODB1.

Is the wiring a tough job and how long does it take roughly ????

Thanks for the help guys,

not really ..... it is a pain in the *** though ... esspecially if the engine is installed already.... it is a time consuming job.... very time consuming. but it is not difficult to understand whats being done.

Ok, what wiring harnesses do you have? do you at least have a OBD1 engine harness? Do you have an OBD1 ECU?

our friends at the HYBRID GARAGE can help again!!!

if you are a dumbass when it comes to wiring, get this kit - makes it plug and play. if you are down with wiring, all you need is the pinout from the ecu and the car... make sure the plug from the car fits into the ECU first and then switch some wires around to make the pin layouts match up - then just plug in the engine harness - splice as needed, and VOILA! done deal!

your third option is to go see our friends at Altech who do this for a living... pay them to wire up your motor... I'd guess if all the bits are there, 4 hours of their work and they'll have you drive home.

I went to the shop again today. If I have to have the car towed from the shop is there anyone on the board that can complete the job for me????

The wiring has to be done, the rad has to be put back in and hooked up. I will also need the interior open were the auto shifter came through sealed up somehow.

Please PM if you can help me out.

I just noticed the Altech posting...... Sounds good. Anyone have a conection with a towing company.... I need a tow from Guelph to Altech....................

thanks.

IMO, it's cheaper to rent a trailer and truck than it is to have it towed all that way. Altech has connections with a towing company I'm sure.

HOLY CRAP!!!! They've had it since Oct 4th? Get it out of there. They obviously don't know what they're doing and possibly going to screw something up. A couple of friends and I did it on my CRX in less than a week, and that's only because we hadn't any exp.

On my car domain page you will see a similar setup (black car).... 99 si converted to obd1 b16 engine/comp.... we just use the conversion harnesses... converts down from obd2 -obd1 . Only six inches long right b4 the computer.... two day swap. I think I have one or two left if you are in need.
