Question B16A + GSR tranny...

Just curious, I know B16A trannies with a GSR motor make for a good setup, but what bout the other way around? With slightly longer gearing, what would it benefit if anything for a B16A motor?

from my experiance with a d16z6 and a 99 dx tranny (longer gears then my Si tranny) it is considerably slower.... but fuel millage is greatly improved cause it revs so low on the highway

depends on ur driving style if you like the "track" i would not recomend it the SiR tranny has a nice short gearing.... i love my gsr tranny...if u are trying to "race" it dun go with longer ratio......but for daily driving i LOVE that tranny....if u have the tranny or can get try it ...why not

USDM GSR 170 hp
USDM SiR 160 hp

Since B16 and B18 are almost the same
I believe you swap B18 tranny will give extra 10 horses

I STRONGLY BELIEVE IN THAT!!

i strongly disagree with that...

explain how you can gain any hp by changing a tranny?? its physically impossible... the only difference is that you would accelerate faster with the b16a2 tranny cause the gears are shorter

yeah i was thinking the same, if it were that easy, than everybody would go for the higher tranny. it just depends on your application and how you want to put those power to the wheels. if you want normal driving i guess a tall gear ratio would do if you want to race short gear ratio

hey ryuujin, why don't you just try it :P, i mean if you have the time and willingness to do it, see how it is, see which one you liek better, and sometimes do an occasional boot with it. but the end result will be really up to you. i don't think there's much benefits othe rthan what quick_cx said.

I hope that was a joke.

You will definitely notice the difference. The B16A really needs tighter gearing in order to make up for the lack of torque.

hahahaha I was curious to know wha the benefits are really. I couldn't figure out myself how beneficial it would be at all. Longer gears may be better for highway but w/o the short gear to compensate for the lack of torque, the B16A is just not any fun

Anyways, I'll go try it out for sure now since I'll gain 10 extra HP

b16 = no pullign power so shorter gears = best bet...get a 4.795 (I think) final drive for even shorter gears and lsd that will make you pull better 60 ft's and faster.....gsr is a great all aroudn tranny for fi and na it's got a stronger dif that the sir tranny to...

I think it would benifit a turbo b16 more??...but na, like everyone else says shorter gears to make up for the torque

a gsr tranny would be good for a turbo cause it would give more time to spool up for the turbo.... but all motor shorter gears are most of the time better
