Civic Type-R+GSR Tranny VS GSR Engine+Type-R Tranny

Alright,

I have a friend who is telling me to go one way with a swap and I have a trusted person who I think knows better.

I have the situation where I can get a :

Civic Type-R with a GSR Tranny or

98 GSR with a Type-R Tranny.

Which one is a better fit/setup for my 1999 Civic Hatchback.

Opinions, give reasons. I am leaning towards the GSR engine with Type-r tranny .. But.. i am open to views.

You Should have Searched
(This is the 2nd time ive said this today) Im pretty sure your not going to be the only person in the world that has run one of these setups. No doubt in my mind that if you searched the net or even H-T for 5 min you could find the info you want.... anyhow..

It depends on what you want?
CTR is 1.6
GSR is 1.8

IMO I would take the GSR with the R Tranny for tourqe reasons ..

However you could technically get an ITR Crank and swap out the CTR Crank and have a 1.8.

Its really hard to say since you have really listed no goals for your setup.

i'd go with the GSR too....depends though, if you wanna spend $3500 on a CTR swap then start pulling it all apart to replace the crank/rods with a ITR or GSR crank/rods and basically be rebuilding the bottom end.
To me, that sounds like the more expensive route of getting a GSR.

gsr with R trans forsure hands down more torque better platform to start I/h/e and IM with ctr cams would be even nicer on the gsr, has more potential and has more torque
