auto transmission problem
problem:
At first it was hard to shift from the "park" position to the "reverse" position. Once you got the shifter out of "park", all other gears selected fine. But once I tried to shift it back into "park" it would be really hard (really really stiff).
So basically the problem was hard shifting between "park" and "reverse"
Now the gear selectors are all F!@#%!, The shifter is now stuck in "park", but when i start the car, the car is in a drive gear, and the car moves??
Is this just a "shift cable" problem? if so does anyone know how much they cost?

Does anyone else have input on this? Holy jeepers, one of my best friends duped me into coming to his house, only to have planned all along to bring me to his trashy gf's house to help her replace bulbs on her 1993 Civvie. She told me it was real tight as well, and when I tried to pull out from P to R, it was indeed very tight, and it didn't feel "notched" when I managed to get it to R; I just knew by feel it engaged. Is it just the shift linkage requiring a good dose of lithium grease, or is it something bigger?
Still trying to learn the subtle ins and outs of these cars....

100% shifter linkage problem. Very easy to change. U can do it around 30 min if u have a hoist. U can also jack it up. That's what happened to my car long time ago. I brought the car and it was so hard to shift from P to N and so on. 1 day it broke while i was shifting. I got so lucky that it broke on D so i get to drive it to my shop and fix it myself. Is like $100 to get a new linkage. Good luck. There's nothing wrong with your tranny.
