91' integra auto transmission problem

First of all, if integra issues are not supposed to be discussed in this forum, sorry B I didn't read the rules properly and you can delete it. I think I did though.

Otherwise, if anyone knows or knows of something similar that they've experienced to this, any input would be great.

My close friend has a 91' auto integra LS. mileage is high in the 220xxxkm. This problem has suddenly appeared in the last few weeks.

She says that when she starts the vehicle, she cannot move the shifter out of park.

She must put the key in the shift lock and move the lever to neutral to start the vehicle. Then she can move freely to the drive gears thereafter.

The car has no weird sounds, no lights codes or anything.

Basically it won't move out of park unless the shift lock has the key installed. This is while the car is on or off. No alarm on the car. no immobilizer, etc.

Is this electrical? or is the shift linkages? or is this car just acting dumb? void the last statement I was just kidding.

Thanks for the help. I'll try anything you guys throw at me and we'll see what happens.

Solution:

Thanks to ALL, I mean Paul, who has enlightened me on this subject.

The fuse was blown on the stop brake lamp switch. So it was replaced and the shifter moved freely again.

Remember only on Automatics. duh.
