another question

what size piping would i have running through my car, its a 99 si.

i wanna buy a new muffler, hopefully one with a nice deep sound, nothing too loud.

i just hate looking at that little muffler tip a the back of the bumper, its like an inch big, looks horrible.

i took a look last night and the piping seems fairly big all the way through, but i was just wondering if anyone new the exact size?

thanks

What type of motor is it, and do you plan on putting a turbo in?

edit: since your not online to answer...

if it's the stock D16Y7, I'd go with 2.25" piping, if you plan on getting turbo, boost, ect... I would go somewhere between 2.5" - 3".

Hope that helps.
PS. What kind of muffler are you going to pick up?

don't you lose a bit of low end torque and power with 2.25"?

well i'm not sure about what kind of muffler, and yeah i would go with 2 1/4, but i was just asking what size piping would already be on my car, its a d16y8.

just wondering the size cause it looks like a decent size now but i will go bigger if it isn't as big as i'm thinking it is. I don't really know what i'm trying to say here, hopefully you can get something outta this.

there a muffler in the classifieds right now, seems pretty decent, but its made by sparco and i didn't know sparco made mufflers. I don't really know what muffler i should get, for now all i can really say is something not too expensive, but not too cheap

well try not to go with a canister type muffler (fartcan) unless you want to get hasseled by the cops

do you guys know what size a WRX exhaust collector is? about 2 inches... makes 225 hp. what makes you think your 1.6L single cam nomrally aspirated engine needs a 2.25 inch exhaust?

IMO, if you have manderel bent piping, use the same ID of the piping as the size of your collector. Just a rule of thumb...
