Hey guys,

I recently purchased a 1987 CRX with a ZC swap installed. I know its a DOHC, 1.6L non-vtec engine. But i dont know what type of clutch i should be running with it.

I'm purchasing a 3 puck exedy clutch soon but my supplier doesn't have anything in his book to tell him which clutch to use.

Will any D-series clutch fit? I mean can i juss order one for a D16 and i'm ok?

Does it matter if i'm running a cable or hydro tranny?

Where can i find the tranny code btw?

Ok first off what year is the zc? Check on the block and you will see the year of it. Hopefully the tranny is the same year as the motor. Do you know if it's been changed recently?

If it's an 88 then you can only use the clutch from an 88 civic/crx b/c the tranny has 21 splines on the input shaft and the 89 above have 20 splines on the input shaft.

If it's an 89 then you can only use the 89 civic/crx clutch b/c it's 200 mm in diamater.

If it's a 90-91 then you can use any clutch from a 90-91 CRX OR from a 90-95 Civic. They are all 212 mm and have 20 splines.

This is just a mini clutch guide I made, however you can mix and match from 89-91, meaning if you have an 89 and you wan't to use a 91 clutch you can. In order for it to work you need the 90-91 flywheel and also the pressure plate from the 90-91 so it can bolt up correctly to the flywheel.

When you buy a new clutch it already comes with pressure plate, and release bearing so you'll just have to worry about getting a larger flywheel.
