Adjusting height of coil-overs

Sup guys. Ya, I got coil-overs, not really enjoying it, but no dough for new springs yet. So gonna stick with them for a while. In the mean time, I was wondering if anyone knew how to adjust the height of the coilovers? If so this would be great, I've gone to RT Motorsport already, but Rick is just really busy, so no time to do it. I just want to adjust the back height to be a lil lower and figured that I could probably do it myself. So any input would be appreciated. Thanks Guys!

Didin't it come with those special wrenches? For the back just jack up the rear end, take off your wheels and adjust the coils using those wrenches until you like the height.... trial and error won't hurt.

Jugglez pretty much summed it up. SiRJ does it himself too. The coils should of came with one or two wrenches to adjust the perch.

Hmm...ok sounds good. I got these two things that came with the coil-overs, I'm assuming that those are the wrenches, so I'll play with that. Now for the actual height, are there precise numbers or anything on them? Like how do I know that I am putting the height of both sides the exact same height? I don't one tire higher than the other or anything. That wouldn't be too good for my tires.

Thanks for the input guys. Really appreciate it.

I believe what you do is to count the threads. unless you want to load balance the car, a safe way would be to same number of threads on the left and on the right. it doesn't matter tho you have the same front and rear (you get better launch if the rear is set higher but could be dangerous on the highway when doing any emergency manoeuvers -> oversteer). to the best of my knowledge you can't really tell by the height of the vehicle because our civics leans a bit 'coz the engine is placed on the left side.

ya counting the threads is your best bet but still, cars aren't perfectly balanced, so don't be surprised if they are totally off. on my koni p/s is all the way down but d/s has 10 left and on a level surface car height is the same on both sides
but still, whatever works for you...

Use the thread count as a rough estm. Then use a tape measure, and measure from the ground to the top of the center of the wheel well. (a word of advise, after you get it to the height you like, take the car for a spin to let it settle.) When you lift a wheel off the ground, and the lower it back down, the wheel, 9 times out of 10, does not settle back to the camber angle that it had prior to lifting the wheel. That is why you should take it for a spin, then measure it with a tape measure again. Rinse, lather, repeat........

i agree, your car wont be level unless you do trial and error. i have coilovers and my car isnt even close to being level when i have equal thread counts on both sides, especially the rear.

and another thing, make sure you adjust your coilovers fairly frequently or they will seize up. i didnt adjust mine for 2 yrs and they were a real pain in the *** to turn.

I c I c, but if they not the same height...for example, say the two back coil overs are not the same height, wouldn't that cause major wear on the one tire thats a bit lower or higher than the other one??

Apply some anti-seize on the threads when you put them on.
