I wanna do an engine swap on my civic dx coupe. I have a few questions before starting this. Firstly, what is the difference between the d16 and d15b? and which one should i get for better power and reliabilty? Also, My old engine has about 300xxx kms. Is it necessary to change the Transmission along with the engine, cause a mechanic told me to just change the engine and the clutch and whatever essentials are necessary such as brakes, tires, fluids etc. So do i need to change the transmission if im changing the engine, or transmission doesnt necessarily need to be changed?

if thats what your mechanic says then it should be fine... if you dont trust your machanic why are you still taking your car to him. I would say just change the clutch and machine the flywheel. If you have the money it wouldn't hurt to buy a new tranny

what im trying to ask is does the tranny ever just 'die' due to extensive long-use? Or will the tranny be basically 'all-new' once i change the clutch? Or should I just change the Tranny along with the engine just to be on the safe-side since i do expect this car to be my future daily driver?

IMO for you, I wouldn't touch the tranny if its not grindin or anything. You say its going to be a future DD, but probably like a lot of people on here it wont be. You'll get sick of it or something better will come up!
I dont think there is a point of changin your engine for a few HP or just cause a #. Throw some sea foam in that biatch, theres a how to on every form.... and see how it goes after that.

No, the engine is out, it died on me. Its time for a new one. And what is that sea foam you speak of?

sea foam is an engine treatment theres DIY in here
just get a new engine clutch and machine the flywheel and call er done imo
but its your money and your choice too
