I agree with loudsubz even with good tuning 250+ whp isnt going to last too long on stock D series rods, not to knock the D series or anything but the B series are so accessible and cheaper than before, its almost pointless building up a D

To reach the same amount of power with a built D, I can do for under 2000$ and that's with it tuned. I'm actually in the process if putting a built D into my car soon.
I don't want to start another D vs. B debate again. I know b-series are better and have more potential but building a D is not pointless IMO.

I disagree. Build D's are not pointless. The money I would spend on a full b-series swap to reach 160whp would exceed 3000$.

Blair, I'm well aware that it's possible.
What I was talking about was say I purchased a b16a2 for around 2200$ full swap. I would be at 160hp to the crank. And with that 2200 i could have my build D put in and tuned.
With the build head/block that I'm buying I don't need to change all the things that add up such as the driveshafts/axles etc. Hell, I don't even need to change my y8 tranny.
I have a spending limit of 2000$ on my engine. Well atleast for this year. So b-series is out of the question..
I was going to start building an ls/vtec but unfortunately my d16 isn't going to last much longer so I need a swap quickly.

you guys did see that the torque # is at the flywheel right? so where did he get the 225 whp from? i havent seen a dyno give you one number @ the crank and one @ the wheels on the same graph. something seems wierd.
that is alot of torque for little d series rods to handle, remembering that the d series rods are half the thickness of a b16 rod. i hope it stays together for the guy. i dont think i would try this setup.

That's nice number, but to be able to use it everyday, it is gonna be tough on the engine, I think.

nice, i love seeing turbo'd d series. with the money invested into a B18C swap for a 180hp, you can have a built D running 200+
a B18C5 is like $5000 installed or more, but a turbo/built D would destroy the B18C5 hp and torque wise.
