2000 sir rims on 97 civic lx cupping problem
Looking for some insight.
About six months ago I replaced the original 185\65\14 tires and rims that came with my 97 civic lx with 2000 sir 195\55\15 tires and rims. I now have some cupping going on and the tires feel like crap. A friend of mine told me that since I went from the original size 14 inch tire to a 15 inch I will have to install a camber kit or I will always have the same problem. Does anyone know if this is true or should I be looking at something else.

If you didn't change your ride height, then camber will not change. Camber wear happens on ther inside edge of the tire and nowhere else. Cupping is entirely different.
Overinflation is something to check for, the correct tire pressure for your car is listed on the drivers door jamb. It's 32 for my 00 coupe and I think it should be the same for your car. It could also result from poorly balanced wheels.
Another possibility is worn shocks which allow the tires to lift off the ground on bumps while braking and then when they touch down again, they skid a little as they get back up to speed.

its definately not from the SIR rims, 185/65/14 is the exact same size in overall height diametre as 195/55/15 and has absolutely nothing to do with camber kit. A camber kit is needed with lowering 1.5"+ not by changing rims (provided overall tire diametre is same or with +/- 4%
probably the tires, are they in good shape or bald, camber wear? whats the condition of them
