2000 Civic Si Coupe BOING sound
Afternoon everyone, I purchased this car about a month ago and all I can say is that I am so impressed with it. It's a manual transmission. This past week when I backout of my driveway and stick it in first, as soon as I start to move I hear a BOING sound coming from the front passenger side. It only happens when I start to move forward, not when im backing up, and only if its been sitting for 4+ hours. Im thinking it's something to do with the suspension.
This past weekend I changed my oil/filter, plugs, belts, pads and rotors since the car did have 150k on it. Other then that BOING sound the car has been great.

get some one to stand outside and listen
easier to diagnose

Well when I hear the BOING sound it seems to vibrate thru out the car. It sounds alot like a spring of some sort depressing or being flicked.

How is the ride of your car? Is it super bouncy?
It MAY be your suspension based on what you told us.
Does this sound happen EVERYTIME you launch in first?
Try launching in 2nd gear... any sound now?
You really have to use process the of elimination to really get down to the nitty gritty of whats going on with your car... we definately need more information to help !

Possibly an upper strut mount/bearing... when you back out of the driveway, I assume you turn either left or right onto the street. Spring could be wraping up on the mount and the boing you are hearing is the spring when the weight of the car transfers rearwards and the spring unloads.

^^
A boing? Maybe a spring is not in place and moves? If you have aftermarket suspension sometimes the spring can move because it is short. Try jacking the car up and see if you can move the spring with your hand at all. If you can then that may be it and shouldn't be a problem.
*Guess I should have read the above post first, haha*

So it seems that it only does it when you start to roll/move forward. Backing up and turning the steering all the way to one and then the other does not cause the sound to happen. When I start to move forward that "BOING" sound happens. I gotta jack it up tonight and take a look. Also with last nights storm I ran over a 1 foot deep puddle and now my alarm is flooded or something heh, sound like it chirps.
