I would only ever let another racer work on my car. KS-R is at the track all the time, and that's the kind of guy I'd trust my ride to. Most other shops are mickey mouse mechanics with band-aid solutions...you want the job done right at a good price, just give Ken at KS-R a holler.

That's not true at all, there's many good shops that do amazing work and know there ****. I wouldn't say most shops b/c I know many motor shops around and they don't butch.

I too have seen many shops, and to be honest, there were very few I was impressed with. I look at work on a whole different level though. The way I see it anyone can bolt in an engine. The work I appreciate is if the kind you can't always see. Things cleaned, new fastners used, Loctite used where appropriate, bushings replaced, torque specs noted for every major bolt (swap documented w/ pics and torque specs + leakdown and compression tests), tuning done right, timing belt water pump changed, new gaskets, etc. All this goes towards the end result. I need to see clean, organized tools, a clean work area (and pref. a clean room - filtered air), and even better -- a clean bathroom. All these details go towards a good end result. I've seen a shop leave tools behind in the engine compartment....shouldn't happen if you have well organized tools, so that at the end of a job when you are cleaning and putting your tools away...you'd notice something missing. Bottom line is... beware of whom you leave your keys with.

^^ Very true, if you want a swap done, any shop will just drop the motor in and give you back your car. If you wan't it done right, im pretty sure that same shop will do so but they will want more $$$. You pay what you get, if you expect to get a swap done for a cheap price, expect to get a fast *** job. Im not sure about KSR's work b/c I never done a swap there but he does know what he's doing as you can tell by his ef h/b. I hear all good comments about him and I got something replaced there also which can make me vouch for his services when you need work done and I highly recommend him for a motor swap.
As I said before many shops are very good at doing swaps, but's it's up to them if they want to do a good job or a fast *** job. My best bet is bringing it to someone who is trustworthy of your car and make sure they do there jobs right instead of bringing it to a stranger. I must agree with you mr.bbarbulo hopefully you and everyone else understands what im trying to say here

Perfect example of something within the last week. Monday my mom took the car to the dealer for an oil change ($80 job). Came out with a $180 bill...CEL was on, but I said not to get it checked out since I knew what it was... nonetheless, they cleared it and charged us. They also identified a coolant migration problem on the Golf where coolant was getting to the ECU. I get the car back...only to find the wiring loom to the coolant tank has been CUT!!!! :fustrated *****!!! What kind of a mechanic would cut factory loom that is fixed at both ends...there is no replacing it now (it's attached to the sensor). And no...I don't want to electrical tape it. Fooking hell!!! It's not that big a deal, but to me...that's a tragedy. You entrust your car to someone, and they go around your engine bay with side cutters snipping away as they please. Idiot!! Never again am I taking any car to a shop where I can't supervise their work. I know a guy that will let me hang out and watch him, since he's a family friend, and this is a small job, and it's cold out. I just need him to plug his OBD I into my winter beater and see if I have a dead MAP sensor... I've done all the other ground work for him, so hopefully he can not charge me too much. Otherwise I'd build me a OBD I scanner and do it myself. Damn...I wish my OBD II scanner could hook up to the ADLD port.

I will never take my car to a mechanic. Sometimes I take it b/c I don't have the proper tools and equipment to complete the job and when I do bring it I only bring it to the couple of guys I know and when I take it to them I watch them from start to finish, there's no chance in hell I will ever leave my car there. Mechanics know that your just a nobody so they hack and hack away at your car and I heard so many stories on mechanics test driving customers cars and beating the **** out of them. My friend used to work mechainics for 2 years and he said that they kill all the cars when they test drive them. **** man if I ever found out that **** happened to my car

I'd recommend KS-R....Did my friends CRX (ZC) and he's happy with it. A good chunk of the work Ken does is engine swap related.

So far I've only done basic work with him (Brakes/Axle replacement) But from what I've seen Ken knows his stuff.
