195/55/15 VS 205/50/15 Advantages/Disadvantages?

i was wondering what u guys are using & if you guys could recommend some good Summer Tires?

Soo far im looking @ Yoko ES100's (but i hear they aren't that good in the rain), old T1's (if i can find them still) and maybe considering Kumho MX (cause i heard the 712's r SHIAT)?

Im currently lowered on H&R Sports and was wondering if i went with 205/50/15 would be car look any different height wise? I was thinking since the tire sidewall is slightly reduced there would be a bigger gap making my 1-6 look like a truck. If someone can post pics of both 195 & 205 that would be great.

Thanks...

They are both the same overall diameter, so you won't notice a difference in height. The 205's are wider obviously, so they'll will offer a slightly bigger contact patch with the road. I've had both sizes on my 98 Si with H&R Sport springs and I didn't really notice any difference.

Toyo T1S @ Bramalea Tire for $109/per tire, mount/balance was $10 a tire.

I picked up a set about month and half ago, its located on dixie, N of 407 i believe. Call in to see if they still have stock...195/50/15 not sure if they have 205's

question: are all 205's the same width, whether its 205/50 or 205/40?

yes they are , 205 is the width, 50 is the sidewall, and the last # is the diameter of the rim

so 205 50 15

will be width 205
sidewall height 50
rim size 15

i think..wel im pretty sure

for 15's id recomend going with 50 series40 series looks rubberband ish on a rim

I'm afraid that 50 is the aspect ratio (i.e., section height divided by section width).

Not exactly, I'm afraid.

For 205 50 15,

Aspect ratio = section height / section width

When aspect ratio = 50,

the tire's height is 50 percent of its width, or 102.5 mm ( .5 x 205 = 102.5 mm).

the overall diameter of a 195/55/15 is slightly bigger than a 205/50/15 thereby giving you less fender gap with the 195s. if you're going to go with 205s then i suggest you getting rims that are at least 7 inches wide or else you're going to get tire buldging on the sides. i have yoko es100s and have no problems whatsoever in the rain.
