Disadvantages of Nitrous

Hey, I'm very serious about getting Nitrous. Now, I want to know what are the disadvantages of getting Nitrous? I hear all the good stuff but what are the bad effects of using nitrous?

Also, what would I have to change in my car? Such as clutch and etc.

BTW, I have a 1997 DX with 96,000km.

i would recommend that u dont. U sound like someone who might "street race." (no offence if i am wrong).

But the biggest disadvantage would be getting yourself killed if you dont know how to control a car with that much pwr.

You have to make sure that the nitrous is not connected cuz it is illegal = disadvantage

carrying nitrous in the car is dangerous if you get into an accident considering it is a gas under pressure.

If you dont time the use properly, you could really fry ur engine.

these are just a few of the disadv.'s. i am sure the other members could get into more of the technical stuff with u.

I doubt having too much power would be a concern.. even a dx with a 100 shot would be ok to handle. Assuming the dx doesn't blow up instantly from it.

lol..

nitrous is ok but it will get boring quick. constantly filling the bottle get expensive too. plus its getting hard to find filling stations. if you dont have this thing tuned right you will grenade the first time you hit the little red "vin diesel' button.

if you decide on it, i'd go with a smaller one...its a DX...it isn't exactly a built engine and low km, be a shame if ya murdered it.

if you use common sense if could be fun but unless racing don't see where you'd really be able to use it in Toronto

its gay, theres a disadvantage

unless you have some drag car and are trying to break time records...i see no point in it.

plus if you were to race someone w/o nos..they would just ask you to un-hook it...making a $700 mod absolutely useless.

I was thinking about Zex 55 shot, not too much.

I just want more hp on my DX, this thing is so damn weak, and I dont got enuff to turbo or swap engines.

I know turbo would be nice because I have low clicks, but I just don't got 3gs.

they are weak, its an economy engine. A turbo on them does get a good amount of kick out of it tho

but if i was you i would just wait, because its not like your DX will be putting out that kind of hp all the time, then you have to pay to fill the bottle, and what if you toast your engine? then you're really going to have to dish out some money...for either a swap or new single slammer...

looking to nitrous to help a week engine is silly, its slow. even with nitrous the engine is still slow. it will be fast for 5-6 seconds but how does that help? are you gonna spay up every hill? if you want to go fast, save your money and get a different engine. just being real.

There is no bigger bang for the Buck then Nitrous. Most kit's are designed to deliver a Small shot(50 or less) with No Modifications at all. No Timing Retards or Fuel mod's at all. But its good to Run Octane boost and Upgrade your Ignition to SOmething that can retard when Triggred. But on a 50shot its negligable. Your Stock Fuel pump is Fine as well. I have a stock Fuel pump with My slightly modded B16 and Its fine. Dont' think your car will be insanely fast with a 50shot. But with I/H/E and a 50shot you should be running High14's. Thats nothing Crazy but a Dodge magnum with a Hemi run's a 15flat. So for Under $1000 your getting some good performance. Don't run nirtous with an Aftermarket chip. You usually Advance your timing with a chip which makes it more prone to Detonation on the juice. Its also recomended you switch to a colder plug. There's pro's and Con's to any performance Mod. Nitrous Only work's when Its turned on and the Bottle's do run out. But if your smart about it and Don't get greedy than It should last for quite a few year's on a stock Motor. And if you buy a Wet Kit you never have to worry about running lean(lean=kaboom) since the Nitrous and Fuel are Mixed before they enter the Intake Manifold.

Alrite, so I'm getting 2 different opinions here:

1) Nitrous is retarded and useless.

and

2) Nitrous is the best bang for the buck

...confused... and how would I toast my engine when I'm using a 55 shot?!

I think I need some good advice from ppl who HAVE experience with Nitrous Oxide and not just someone saying it's bad because they saw "The Fast and The Furious"!

Ppl are giving you advice its your decision whos to take. I think ur the one watching fast and the furious is this for track or street use? if its for street thats jus plain stupid because of the dangers of it, why endanger others lives if u get into an accident?
