i think around 6500 to 7000
call the dealer and ask them where the red line starts

the CX hatch has a red line of 6800 (found during racing

my shift light is set at 6000 which in my opinion is a little low since the reaction time means I shift befoe it would hit the red line... I'm thinking of bumping it up to 6300 or 6400....

i'd be setting it for max performance, NOT red line..
red line is not necessarily the best place for peak performance..
h/p-torque tends to fall off before max rpm

get it dyno'd..
look at the print-out..
see where the line peaks?? set yer shift light a hair before that..

Well, most cars have more than one gear so MAX performance is redline. Even though hp's and TQ's drop after you peak, you're still better to get some more revs out of the motor so that as you shift, you land further up the RPM band on the next gear. Therefore, when using all of your gears you actually have the most "area under the graph".

On Honda cars, they are geared so redline is max perf... other cars like Fords are NOT designed as well, so it pays to shift early.

yeah I need to dyno my car but I think the redline is close enough to peak power...

you don't want to shift at peak power anyways you want to shift after peak power so that when the engine is pulled down from the higher RPM it's speed lands right in beginning of the peak so that your getting max Area under the curve ... as Happy has stated.,...
