why would tapping the starter help????

hey everyone... thanks chris for the ideas...

It ended up being a bad connection/ground from the negative battery to the chassis... the terminal was caked with salt corrosion i suppose.. fixed it this morning while the sun was out!

I found out a trick through a friend by taking a set of booster cables and connecting one clamp directly to the negative terminal and the other to the motor... and it started! and once i remmoved the booster it wouldnt start again.

So i went ahead and took apart all the ground wiring around the car and cleaned off all the terminals so that it was nice and shiny.

Now it runs even smoother than before! LOL I felt so dumb... thanks anyways guys!

Glad you foudn your problem. Sometimes its the stupidest things.

I remember the day after I got my car street tuned with my old turbo set-up.. my car wouldn't start, it would just crank. I started to pull plugs (check if they were flooded or fouled, blahblah)

Then I just asked my friend to crank it while i was looking at the bay and i saw my ****ing negative terminal vibrate a bit.. damn thing was looser than zeeman's mom...
