I went.
Was it fun? When I was dry, it was fun.
Here's what I had on my torso
t-shirt
long sleeve
microfibre golf shirt
jeans
gore-tex pants
my kart suit on top of that.
how long did i stay dry? less than five laps.
what i should've done was wore my gore-tex top as well. this way at least i don't get soaked.
Here's a tip for you racing in the rain: unless it's warm, don't do it.
If you have a choice, do it once when points doesn't count. Reschedule if you could. I thought it'd be fun, and it was at first.
Then the cold set in and it was brutal. I never knew 6.5 karts can be so mentally draining. By the time I spun out on my 2nd lap in my 8 lap qualifier heat, i just packed it in. I was cold to the BONE when i got in the kart, and that gets VERY distracting.
So dress warm. and wear something water PROOF. Bring another change of clothes. If you must, duct tape garbage bags underneath your outer layer so you odn't get drenched. It's not so much your torso, it's ur fingers and toes. Once they get wet, it's hard to stay focused.
Onto driving a wet track. Stay on the outer line at all times. you want rubber to meet wet asphalt, not rubber meeting wet rubber (the wet rubber is on the traditional racing line)
Brake way early, turn, and pray it turns in before it's too late. Initial turn in will be MASSIVE understeer. AFter that, it's literally control by throttle.
that's all i gotta say. it wouldn't have been so bad if it wasn't wet AND cold.

dasmn too bad it wasn't fun for ya black86hatch... I think it would be a blast to run in the rain although I was out for a bit today and between the wind and how cold the rain was I can see how it would have been a rough day... too bad you didn't finish today ... were there many crashes with the poor conditions?

i fixed it myself
by jumping into another kart on the session after.
here's a tip. when u'r in the staging area, and you get started up
hold onto the brakes, and mash the throttle
if you let off, and the motor keeps on chugging like u'r on the throttle, get out of the kart and get another one.
i knew it was stuck before i left the pits. but the guy working there said i should be alright
so much for listening to those morons

punk and I were there yesterday (monday) and it was an eventful nite
first off a guy who was coming into the had hit brakes totally come flying off... he couldn't stop and instead of being smart and exiting the pits and hitting the grass the turned the kart rite into the wooden stands they are building... he hardcore messed up the front right wheel and a few other things up front... he almost took out the girl that gets everyone ready to go out on the track...
As well during my race there was a guy that bumped another kart and ended up ripping the bumper right off and a wheel too if I'm not mistaking... and there was another guy in the younger class who's belt snapped around a turn and he went spinning out....
All in all a great nite... Mondays rule for the amount of ppl that are there (lots of track time) .. things other than those "incidents" went pretty smoothly..
