you guys are so silly. do you think before you talk? why tell people things that are lies or not true? the h22a is only 75 pounds heavyr than a b series moter. you take off the power steering, ac,. i run a cf hood-20 pounds, light battery-20 pounds, 13 pound rims-14 pounds. well thats 75 pounds fellas. im not evin mentioning the other 40 pounds of stuff i took off the front end. so how is this a heavy swap? yes its a myth.

now your sayin you have to change the brakes? why? my civic with h22a weighs 900 kilos. why would i need bigger brakes?
hell i took off the si big brakes to save 10 pounds. nothin like a hawk brake pad on a 900 kilo car.
my other civic weighs 940 kilos with the h22a but it has 2001 civic type r complete suspension.

i do 12.9 109 in my civic street tire, no spray, stock h22. nice starting point if you ask me.

i have been driving h22a civics for almost two years. im runnin one this winter with falcon road course tires. no problem so far.
all this bullshit people talk is jelousy. why buy gsr? 4500 at lucky star. i paid 3000 for h22a swap at lucky star. 500 for mounts. what 1000 dollars left over to play with? hehe whos the idiot.

hey rcbh what about mounting kit ?? isnt' that alittle more $$$....I think it has alot to do with supply and demand, people wan t gsr and not h22, the price for a h22 will go up once more people swap it. From what I have saw in the past year the price has gone up slightly

big ups to the H22a .......in a EG your looking at low 13.00s right out the BOX. thats if you have any idea how to drive and are not afraid to break an axle.......make sure the motor is sitting straight.

I heard that with an H22 swap you would have to lose your A/c and power steering?

you can keep power steerin but why? i dont think you can use ac but why would you want it? this is a race car not a cadilac? thats like this guy i know. he put the 22 in his accord and wondered why it was slow. weight to hp. ditch the ac, power steering and everything you can find to rip off. then you can do 12's like me all moter for cheap. then when some punk wants to put you in your place you hook up the 100 shot and throw down 11's.

Alright I'm going to play devils advocate here, since I have the B20 that was referred to in the above post. But there is no way in hell I would put an LS tranny with it. Aside from that I'd like to hear your justification on the B20 being as good or better than the H22? Crazy Kid has said that he has the JDM h22 in his 1992 Prelude, and I have said that I have a B20 in my 93 Coupe. Now in a heads up style acceleration contest I can hang with him not too badly, He might say different, but.....

Anyways. civic's with h22's setup properly will run an EASY 13.80 (I am at the track quite regularly to witness this) and I know for a fact that my car is NOWHERE near those times.

For what it's worth Cosmic, I'd like to hear your side of the argument here. I love my B20, and I would not give it up for an H22 ever, but I can admit when I'm beat, and a civic with an h22 would hand me my ***. Over, and over, and over......

i'm a big fan of the b20b only because i'm a avid fan of snail power....for that (i assume) you would want an LS tranny because of the shorter ratios

sure the H22 is the 'big pimp' of the swap world...

BUT the B20b is less expensive to install (straight drop), less movable parts (less things to break), it's a better base for f/i (9.2:1 compression)...
and my personal favourite there's hella more room in the engine bay so when you do need to work on it... you won't need to remove it like you would with an H22

now... to give everyone an idea what you can do with all the money you save swapping in a b20 over the h22

a b20 with Port n polished and milled head, Webb regrinds and a GS-R tranny can run 13.2 on stock tires consistantly....

I won't disagree about room, and ease of repair, or maintenance, but I still maintain dollar for dollar that if all you care about is straight line acceleration, the H22 woul woop all over a B20 any day of the week. Talk stock to stock, it's not fair to talk about modded cars. AS far as Turbo a Turbo'd H22 would again trounce a Turbo'd B20. The B20 does have slightly lower compression than the H22, but again, lower compression is not always necessary for turbo. People seem to have this thing in their head where they think that Turbo and Nitrous need lower compression, but in fact they do not. It's just that the tuning window gets considerably smaller. There are ppl running 15-20 psi of boost on 11:1 compression motors every day. You just need to stay on top of monitoring your engine's vitals, that's all.

What about on a twisty course?

Has anyone tried an H22 at SOLO or a Course?

there was a vid on honda-tech of a 96+ civic+h22 autoxing, and it looked like it was doing decent considering the girth of the h22

Smile h22a is all good

I've got h22a in my hatch, forget about keeping your
stock springs up front because when the motor drops in
the suspension drops 3" up front and under braking the
car could drop 4" to 5" thats overkill for the driveshaft. So
I went with a skunk racing extra stiff springs , now I can keep
up with the "Type Rs" in the corners and when it beccome
straight I say bye bye. I do have one complaint , that is its
to violent in 1st & 2nd gear. I need some serious traction
specially beacause I'm running on 14" wheels. Once I get
some drag radials IT SHOULD BE ALL GOOD. Anybody considering
this swap I'll share my experience with you. HAPPY MOTORING.
