ur more than likley right bout making power outta a b7 ive never done it so i wouldnt noe im just sayin stock that motor sucks
I must be reading wrong then???
You said if it was a single cam ZC it WOULD have to be vtec. I'm saying your wrong.
And your giving wrong informtion to peolpe reading. There is a ZC vtec and a ZC non vtec sohc.

And running mid 14's for under 1/4 the cost of a b16 swap does'ent suck to me???
It shows how much you don't no and how much you need to learn!

T-mack is right. you dont need to swap a b16. i mean they do make more power and on boost they are nicer, but if you just want a little bit more power and dont have a lot of $$ then build b7 for much cheaper. all the people i talk to, everybody says B16 is the way to go, it would rape your little sohc. wtf for same price [if not cheaper] than b16 you can turbo a sohc and rape b16s all day.
now civicEJ1, please stfu and seriously stop post whoring. its getting annoying and people like you, who think that they got a civic SI and are insanely fast, bring bad rep to civic owners. i bet you go around saying, my car can totally smoke this car...hahaha
stfu and grow up.
ps. you have a lot to learn and if you knew half of the info T-mack knows i would consider paying attention to you.

keeping on topic, I know the SOHC non vtec didn't come factory in civics here but I've seen enough of them swapped in by people who don't know about cars they just needed an engine and that's what the shop put in. so I put that down as an option as to what it could be.

ej1.. not goin to jusmp on the hater-wagon but don't post things unless your sure of what your sayin, we all make mistakes and sometimes give false info because we made an honest mistake but you see how easy it turns into a bunch of bs about off topic garbage. I know you and I exchanged some harsh word in the past and I'd like to think we both have grown up a little since. tmack is right about you can make a d15b7 quick but that's if you know what your doing. of course making any thing go fast is if you know what your doing. do some reading, find a car that you like, research it and learn about what you can do with what you've got, if the challange of a motor swap makes more sense to you then building a motor go with what you know. if building it sounds like you can handle that, do it. I know I give respect to anyone like tmack who has a good setup and not a played out b16 that anyone could put in. its a civic and civics are like tampons, every p*ssy will have one. Even me, I have 3 cars and my favorite is my civic. it's the only one of 3 I won't sell, but everyone has one, they're played out so making one stand out by having a d15 built or swapped in a f20 from an accord is sweet, b16 civics are about as cookie cutter as a town house in brampton.

about the tampon joke.... I love my civic, I've owned 2, and accord, 2 integs, one I still have, a GTI i still have and GMC s15. along with driving my dad's 02 civic all the time before he sold it and his RSX he rarely lets me touch, along with my moms nissan, her old 96 cougar and her 02 miata special edition (good luck getting your civic to handle like this miata, it's decked out with all the mazdaspeed suspension the only difference is it's a built n/a 172hp vs the mazdaspeeds turbo 180hp). I also have driven a but load of cars that range from vettes to vipers ferrari's porches and even a $450,000 rolls because of my old job being a RIV centre for importing cars and still the most fun I've had was a toss up between my two civics, my good one is the first car ever in my name and I still have it now pushin 550k original d16z6 till the boosted motor goes in this spring. and the other was a beater I bought for $800 and sold 3 months later for $800, d15b vtec, but the vtec wasn't hooked up as it was swapped into a dx and not properly, but for $800... I used to beat the snot outta that car and didn't really care if it died on the side of the road. I only got rid of it because the floor rotted out. the point is I don't really think civics are like vaginas... both are fun tho.

if you are referring to the ad i posted over there, then re-read the ad please. rust on quarter panels and rust starting on drivers door.
its worth checking out, just to see what kind of condition the car is in. may be worth it.

as previously stated by the OP he does not want to get a car that he has to fix right away. and that requires more than just a bumper/hatch. you can see that the car was backed up into a pole/tree and so at the deepest point the metal piece that bumper sits on will be bent[not sure what is it called exactly].
imho wouldnt get it. but again maybe its not that bad, just seems that way..

Any car that costs less then $1500 is most likely always going to need work. The OP is better off saving at'lest $3g's so he can find something that won't be a fixer upper.

And for the record I love rocking SOHC power in my EG but all so have had over 10 different B-swaps and set-ups. Nothing wrong with them if you no what your doing. Not to mention I DD a K20A ep so my need for vtec is served daily! lol.

I totally agree. A $1500 will more then likely be a bucket that needs some type of work. Rusted quarter panels, 15 year old worn out suspension, a motor with 300,000k's will all be typical of most $1500 Civics.

$3000 would buy a very nice 96-00 Civic.

And as for identifying a Civic engine, the code is stampted on the block below where the coolent hose goes into the cylinder head.

Agree.
Its getting harder everyday to find any EG's worth buying. Stock EG suspension parts are practically useless anyways. Canadian winters are not kind to them at all.
