Throttle position sensor
HI,
I NEED TO REPLACE MY THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR, I KNOW HOW TO REMOVE THE OLD ONE AND MOUNT THE NEW ONE.
1996 HONDA CIVIC LX
HAS ANYONE DONE THIS BEFORE, WHERE DO YOU SUGGEST I PURCHASE A NEW ONE?
ALSO HOW DO I CALIBRATE THE NEW ONE USING A MULTIMETER ?
I FOUND THIS:

$72.32 (USD) WITH TAX AND SHIPPING
THANKS

well if you buy one from honda, they don't sell the TPS separately, so you'd have to buy the whole throttle body.
All you do to calibrate the new one is, adjust the TPS (by rotating it) until the multimeter reads 0.5v with the throttle closed and 4.5v with the throttle wide open.

I don't know how much more detailed I can get, its a pretty straight forward process.
What you have to do is put the multimeter on the pins of the TPS sensor (or back probe the middle wire on the connector with a back-probing tool). Then adjust the TPS sensor (by loosening the screws that hold it down and rotating the sensor itself) until you get a reading of 0.5 with the throttle closed and 4.5 with the throttle wide open. If you do this with the TPS connector unplugged you'll have to have your multimeter on OHMs, if you do it with the TPS connector plugged in and back probe the connector you'll have to do it with the multimeter on Volts with the Key On Engine Off (with the key 2 clicks foward so the radio/power windows work, but the engine NOT running) otherwise there won't be any power to the TPS and you won't get a voltage reading on your multimeter.
