Need help 1.6 el motor

hey i was wondering if anybody can help me.I have a 99 1.6 el vtec motor in my 96 civic.I used to have the 99 motor harness running, everything worked fine except for the speedo and rpm.So i switched my engine harness to 96 civic harness, and as i was doing this i broke a sensor on the thermostat housing. I couldnt find one from a newer 1.6 so i used the old thermostat housing from a civic. But the old is different from the new one because it doesnt have that certain sensor that i broke, that a hose runs too. So i ran that hose to my intake. Ever since i did that my car hasnt been running as it used too,and it boggs at 1.5,2 rpms. If anybody knows anything, help would be greatly appreciated...thanksssssss

perhaps take the hose off the intake and plug it. What was it connected to originally and about how big is it?
