Help With New Engine!!

Just swapped a d15b (jdm with tec) into my 96 hatch, now sometimes the gas pedal gets stuk, and I have to press hard to make it unstick, do I just need to change the throttle cable? and if so, can I use the one from my old D16y7, or do I need the one from the Si? (d16y8)

Sounds like the throttle plate is sticking to the throttle bore. If the bore is scoured, you'll have to replace the whole unit.

You can't use a y7. y8 tb's will work fine.

If the throttle plate is sticking to the bore, then clearly it has nothing to do with the cable.

cool thnx man, just cuz my mechanic was saying that if I replaced the cable to one from a Si (96-00) it might fix it. He did suggest cleaning the throttle body first though, do you know where I can find a write up on how to?

Sounds like your mechanic isn't the brightest guy in the world.

I did a D15B Vtec swap in my car and I am not having nor have i ever had the problem you are having with the gas pedal sticking. I used to have a d15b7 in the car before i did the swap. Which engine did you have in before you replaced your engine because the intake manifolds are completely different from D15B to D16y7

Cleaned out the throttle body this morning (didnt take it off, just sprayed a little carb cleaner and scrubbed with a toothbrush, then wiped the gunk off with a rag) worked like a charm! No more sticky throttle lol. Thanks for the help guys!

Just FYI, my mechanic is a smart dude, changed my clutch, midpipe, and swapped my motor in about 6 hours, hes been doin this for a while.

just because he can move a wrench doesn't mean he's smart. I did my swap in 7 hours with some stubborn bolts. I'm not even a mechanic.
