what engine do you have? and the advantage of changing your head would be more flow and efficiency wich will give you more power. But first you must find out what engine you have because you may not want to change the head. But try and get some gains elsewhere.

is it the car that you have in the profile? 93 SI ?
if so, you have a d16z6 and i would not swap any other head because people do mini-me[head swap] for vtec. since you already have vtec there is no point in swapping anything.

Vtec in sohc is more for fuel effiency then anything'else.
The cam profile in non vtec heads are much more aggresive and can generate more power N/A. My old MM was slower then my B7.

T-mack but this guy wants a straight head swap, so going non-vtec would loose him power.
Just a question out there is d15b head same as d16z6? I know d15b has more aggressive cam, but other than that, any advantages? Reason I ask I "might" be taking the motor apart to clean it up and replace gaskets before turbo, since they aren't that expensive would it be worth getting d15b head over z6?

I understand. All I'm saying is the head swap won't always be the best idea to make more power. Vtec is highly overated in SOHC engines. Less aggresive cams and better on fuel is what they really are.
But after you spend money on a head, ecu, distributor, gasket kit, and what not you could have easily put that money in'to your non vtec engine and be making more power. Get your'self a beefy stage 2 cam and some P29's and a tune you will have a fast little Sohc.
And to answer your question I was just talking to BISI about the D15b cam compared to the Z6, he just ran a whole bunch of tests on them and yes the D15b cam is slightly more agressive the the Z6.

Ic, in your opinion would it be worth getting d15b head over z6 for boost? Because they way I see it, the z6 head should allow more flow due to bigger displacement. Boost+displacement=win. Yet I hear people saying that d15b will take z6 stock. Sorry I know the gains[if any] would be very minor.
And OP sorry for thread jack.

Here I'll break it down even more for you on the D15b compared to the Z6.

: Same cam profiles on the secondary and primary lobes.
: They share the same exhaust profiles.
: They do not share the same lobe seperation.
: The intake lobes do not share the same reference opening and closing numbers in
relation to keyway centerlines. Same goes for exhaust.
: The intake lobes are significantly retarded in the D15b engines in comparison to the Z6.
: The D15b exhaust lobes are slightly retarded in comparison to the Z6.

There is little wonder on the nice power capabillity of the D15b, despite the displacement "handicap".

Not just my opinion but the N/A master himself Bisimoto will even tell you the for boost or stock to stock the D15b would still be better.
Or you could get the Bisi level 1.2 turbo cam and be even better.

if ur boostin it, don't bother changing anything, if you want more power, turn the boost up a couple PSI, its really that easy.
