Firing up issuies!

Hey guys hows it all going, I have a strange problem with my car and hoping if I could perhaps maybe recieve some open suggestions and or advice and so forth. I have a 1990 civic dx, which I got wired up for fuel injection. And the problem im having is, when I go to start it after allowing the fuel pump prime than crank it, it will idle up to 2000 rpm's than shut off right away unless if I mess with the main relay a bit (taping it!) now i'll repeat this process 5 times in order to maintain A steady idle like having the car run. And once its running its only idling at grand 1000 rpm's. I did turn the idle up and it help'd but then after wards same thing!

Know my main relay is no good after relying on it so much. I know for sure its not the fuel pump reason being cuaze its practically new. I'm maybe thinking wiring but dont know? So if again anyone can relate to this problem and through some input that will be honestly appreciated. Thanks again people for your time.

even if you can hear the fuel pump prime, it could still be too weak to actually run at full pressure.

What do you mean by "which I got wried up for fuel injection"? If it's a 1990 it should already be fuel injected, no?

If it was converted from carb to fi, did you use the correct wiring harnesses, sensors and ecu? Is the fuel rail, injectors, pressure regulator all installed correctly?

Also, if you converted from carb to fi, you need to change to a fuel injection fuel pump. Carb fuel pumps don't run on anywhere near the pressure of a fuel injection system. (carb fuel pressure is 8-15psi, fuel injection typically runs at 30psi+).

Just a few thoughts.

sounds like your fuel main relay is f*&#ed. Good news is it's an easy fix. its a grey box on the drivers front kick panel just up under the dash. Unbolt it and remove it. Open it up and re-solder the contacts. you will see some of them are dried up, this is your problem because they are not making proper contact. This should solve your problem.....or you can buy a new one but they are expensive. If the fuel pump primes and it fires up then dies, there is nothing wrong with your pump.
FYI check this out --> When the Main Relay goes bad

Yea what he said, I honestly maybe think it has to do with the main relay. Because the fuel pump is a 255 walbro... fairly new aswell like I mentioned! Well ill try another relay and ill definetly see how it goes with that.

You don't have to replace the relay, open it up and re-solder the solder points. You'll probably see fine stress cracks in them, that's causing a loss in connection.

re-soldering is definitely the way to go....new is too expensive!

Doesn't that should like an ignition problem to anyone?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but when the car starts, for first few seconds, isn't it running on ignition, not run. Then maybe after a few 'taps' it connects the circuit?
