It's basically a direct swap, almost (Depends if your current engine has vtec or not). Also it's not much different then the engine you already have.

Are you just looking for a replacement engine (did yours blow-up, or?) or are you looking for an upgrade?

If you're looking for an upgrade, I suggest a b-series swap to make it worth it.

^^Ahh. I see. You need to give some background info so we know what your plans are/what happened. lol

In that case, yes you can drop the d15b right in and use the ecu/wiring harness from the d15b I believe...Someone more familliar with the d-series please chime in here? I'm not 100% sure on the wiring...

I was told d15b engines are actually less powerfull than the d16y8 engines. I would of personally went for another d16y8 swap.

I would use a d15b over the y8 any day.
now for the swap, since your y8 is obd2 you will have to deal with that issue. the engine will drop in and bolt up no problem. you will have to use the d16y8 wiring harness since EK's have 1 piece harnesses opposed to the 2piece harness that the d15b comes with.
You can just switch the connectors on the dizzy to plug in your harness into the obd1 dizzy. also you will need an ecu jumper harness to run the appropriate ECU for the d15b and to downgrade to obd1.
other than that im almost sure everything plugs in.
