Can I use an obd1 IAT(Intake air temp) sensor on with a obd2 harness with rewiring?

I have an obd1 motor in a obd2 car and my obd 2 IAT is busted but there is still an obd1 IAT on the back of my intake manifold.

I've read the the obd2 IAT plug is 4 wire while the obd1 is 2 wire but I'd still like to ask if there is a way i could rewire, use an obd1 plug and the obd1 sensor.

Also I cant find the obd1 plug i had so if this can work please feel free to offer it to me, lol.

Thanks.. again.. in advance.

If i recall correctly when i did the z6 swap instead of y7, i changed the plug and pluged it into the back of the intake manifold. Double check, i believe obd1 and obd2 both are 2 wire sensors.

so wire up an OBD1 style 2-wire round plug (doesn't have to be an IAT plug) and plug it into the OBD1 IAT.

The 2-wire round plug can be found on an OBD1 harness several times, the EVAP, IACV, fan switch, vtec pressure switch, ECT and IAT all use the same 2-wire round plug. They're also on all OBD0 and OBD2 engine harnesses too.

I know the 2 wire obd1 plug is all over the place on the obd1 harness but I guess I just need to get one off someone now.

So I know this is redundant to ask but I forgot to mention I'm using an obd2 harness unless you remember from my other posts.

So according to you guys I can cut the wires for the obd2 IAT and connect it to a round 2 wire plug and connect it to the obd1 IAT at the back of my IM, right??-

So I picked up both an obd2 IAT aaaaaaaaand the obd1 two wire plug from the local wreckers, now my question is..

How and where would I install the obd2 IAT if I wanted to?? I checked and it removed the CEL but its just hanging.

I can still cut/splice with the obd1 stuff if I want to but I just wanted to know what peoples opinions or preferences were about which IAT and/or where is best to install it.

I noticed that its on the intake piping on the 96-00 cars but its on the intake mani on older cars. Is there a reason??

So the questions are:

1. How and where would I install the obd2 IAT if I wanted to??

2. Where do I install an obd2 IAT??

3. Is there a reason why the IAT location is different from obd1 =>obd2??

I would suggest using the OBD1 IAT sensor b/c its closer to the head so it'll give a more accurate reading compared to the OBD2 IAT which is located in the intake-pipe before the throttle body.

I'm not sure why they switched to that style IAT sensor on the civics. The OBD2 integras still use the OBD1 style IAT sensor. My guess is b/c the lack of space on the d16y7 intake manifold.

Ok so I've this and all of the other issues in all of my other recent threads (plus an oil change) and I'm sitting at canadian tire getting the drive clean test done, kinda regretting not retarding the timing... DAAHH WELL!!

for the record I did a complete catback including cat, 02 sensor, meth hydrate with ultra94 for a tank or 2 before this half tank of "91" new plugs/wires, oil change, injector cleaner, downgraded to a p06 ecu and fixed this IAT to clear the CEL. That might not even be everything.

wish me luck!!

I'll post if I pass or fail.

Fail fail pass!!!

So after 2 failures I finallyy decided to try the 180cc injectors again and with a little advancing of the timing they dont work too bad.

The results were dramatically different...

Test 1.. Straight from the house the Crappy Tire

Test 2.. After a little highway driving to warm the cat up

Test 3.. After a little highway driving to warm the cat up with 180cc injectors and advancing the timing a bit

Now its time to put a couple things back, hopefully I see that dude in the black eg I saw on highway on the way back to crappytire.

Dude pulled up beside me and in my head I was like.. "ofcourse now everyones ready to pull up". LOL.

Just so you know, RETARDING the timing will help you pass etest, not advancing.

Just so YOU KNOW.. I was running 180cc injectors in a d15bjdm and it was already retarded prior to the second test and did need to be advanced to run with any decency. If i hadnt known what that meant I have looked it up on the internet. Thanks anyway.

All and all the car seems to be running pretty well IMHO.
It was being tested as a Y7 and has a d15b jdm so I think I did ok.
