IAT sensor malfunction?
Hi guys,
I'm suspecting my IAT (intake air temperature) sensor might not be functioning properly. As I have complaint on this forum a few months ago, throughout the winter months, I've been getting quite a bit worse milage on my car. Typically I get 7.5L/100km during the summer months; but when the temperature dips to below 0C, the milage goes down to 9L/100km.
Today's been a pretty warm day, and as I take my car out for a ride, I noticed my engine runs more smoothly and my car seem to have more power. This seems to be the trend for warm weather, and it is most obvious these days since one day it's freezing cold, another day would be warm.
Has anybody had their IAT sensor failing on them? I was hoping to diagnose it myself but I didn't know how to take the sensor out, since it's connected to these wires. Does anybody know how to take it out to check?
Thanks guys!

So does anybody know how to take the IAT sensor out? It's connected to a wires that run to join a bunch of other wires, and there seems to be no way to disconnect the sensor from the wires.

ya I'm nto sure but a IAT to me wouldnt' make that extreme of a difference in fuel consumption.....why do you need to take it off if you haven't even tested it yet...leave it in the car get a multi meter get some probs and take a reading....it's real easy man...not sure how to disconect it on a honda...worse comes to worse if it is bad then just cut the wires then get a new oen adn solder her back in... (worse case scenario)

The IAT sensor is connected by a 2 pin connector it should be faily easy to come off, check to see if it is within the resistance reange however, the ECU would detect a failure in the sensor if it is out of proper resistance. I noticed a drop in fuel milage when winter hit as well. typically a civic should get 400-450 to the tank, depending what engine your running. maximum i have seen is 500km, but that is a rare find in my experience
