91 civic 1.6 sohc 5speed

Hello new guy first time posting a thread here.Hope i picked the right spot.I have a 91 civic 1.6 sohc,i run in a stock car class,i was wondering if any members had a listing of what computers can be used in this car.Currently i have a pm6,hits the rev limiter most of the time.I would like to know if any computers from acura's other civics automatic or stick would allow me to get out of the rev limited. As i mentioned earlier,it is in a stock car class,we buzz around in 2nd gear at approx 68-7,000 rpm. Please let me know what will help

My suggestion would be to convert to obd1 and use a p28 or any other obd1 computer, chipped with your engine software and rev limiter adjusted.

I'm not sure if anybody chips obd0 computers anymore.

Also, do not use any other computer that does not belong to your car, car will not run right, and I doubt you wanna start choking up while on full throttle.

Hello, thanks for the reply,we cannot chip our computers,so converting to obd1 might not pass tech.I have looked at a pm7,i'am told it has a 7,00-7200,rpm limit, but i don't know.I have also looked at other pcm's but i cannot find any info about them(rev limit, etc) Do you think any obd 0 pcm's with a automatic trans would work?

No! Do not use auto or incorrect ecu on your car.

Converting to obd1 is basically using adapter harness between ecu and stock harness, think they will pick it up? Also, do they open the ecus?

Also, if the chip is unbranded, then I doubt they'd pick it up if it was in obd0 ecu.

Hello, yes they do open up the ecu's,so a stacked or unmarked chip will be easily detectable.they look for the factory chip markings etc.I might try a obd 1 conversion and see what happens with the tech dept,of course this is only if i win a heat race of the feature.

Well, even if you go obd1, in that case, you won't benefit from it. If ecus get checked, then you're out of luck. Even with obd1, your rev limit will still be the same.

I don't see how you can do anything to help the situation.
