tire width on rims?

i'm just curious... i got some 15" X 6.5" and they have some 195-50 tires on now... but how much wider can i go?? cause on my other rims which are 14"X5.5 a 185 width tire over hangs the rim... while the 195 on my 15" rims doesn't over hang at all...

and as another tires question... say i wanna stay 195... can i get a 45 side wall?? like do they even make that?? or do they make 205-40 tires?? cause i need to keep sidewalls down to prevent rubbing??

thanks

your sidewall heights are pretty limitless Rick..
might mean having to switch brands but you can usually get a good height variety per width..
say 185/45-85/15 for example, you'll just have to hunt shyt down...

6.5 should be able to get to 225 anyway..
but again, different tire brands might have different limitations

ya thats true... pending my shock removal goes smooth tomorrow my front end will be raised enough to allow wider rubber... so my only problem is how much money my parents wanna give me for my birthday which was last may... brett said $91 for 195-50-r15 kumho's.... but he also said they were 711.... i thought the good ones were 712's??

i hate being a cheapskate

there's a definite difference between the 711's and the 712's..
i know which ones i have and which ones i'd definitely STAY AWAY from..

are you using these strictly as a warm climate tire?
or as an all-season?

the 712's ain't a winter tire in the least..
or even an all season..

the 711's ain't much of a tire regardless of the season..
btw..i would stay away from the 711's

ya thats what i thought you said before.... since i got the new 15" rims i can use my izuzu rims for winter rubber... so seeing as those 712's aren't winter drivable thats ok.... but i thought parkway gave the 712's out for cheaper then that?? like brett said $91 for the 711 which as you say aren't much of a tire.... i think jugglez posted the prices and the 15" 712 were $90 something.... but there no imediate rush on tires cause i have a ok set of perelli's now.... they will probably last till i need winter tires
