195 or 205 tire width?

What size rims are you running? Is your car lowered? If so, by how much?
You can run either size, just make sure you chose the correct profile to keep the overall tire diameter close to factory size.
For example: Stock 99-00 SiR tire size is 195/55R15. So you could run 205/50R15 and the diameter would be close to the same.

should be alright. you may wanna look into rolling your fenders either way. I did mine easy and I run 205/45r16's now and I'm lower then ever with no rubbing. I was on 205/50r15's for a long time. used to be a 6.5" rim on the 15's now I'm on 7" wide. and I'm tucking up front and just low enough there's no gap in the rear. if your just going DD here and not for pure performance you may want the 195's though. we're only talking 1cm of difference really but 195's are better technically for economy, 205's for handling/traction.

With 195/50's your speedometer will be off a bit. The faster you go the further off your speedometer will read (will read faster then the speed you're actually traveling).
That is the main reason for keeping the overall tire diameter as close to the fatory diameter.
Here is a nifty tire size calculator that will allow you to see the difference there will be with different size tires: Tire size calculator

Just look a few posts up. I posted a link to a site with a tire size calculator. It's very simple and easy to use. Just play around with it and you'll see which size is the closest.
Set the size on the left to 195/55/15 and then play with the settings on the right side. Set your rim size then play with the width and height till it's close.

Check out the durun tires they sell at toronto jdm (tcc vendor). They are very good value for your dollar. Have a set on my car. They were about $60 each tax-in, pollution fee included! And they perform VERY well.

the 195/50/15 would yelled 2.6% too slow on your speedo.
Good luck finding 195/45s

not sure cause I don't have a base model, my si came with 185/60r14's I believe (it's been 5 years at least since I had stock size on my car) but aren't the base tires 175/70/13, I think that's what was on my friends vx and also on the vc rims I bought a while ago.
