!! Strange Headlights !!
Hi,
I just replaced the battery in my '98 EL (which I suspect was the original) with the basic Interstate OEM replacement @ Sam's Club this past saturday. I inquired about Optima yellow tops but was told it would be a waste of $$ unless there would be appreciable accessory drain on the battery with the engine off. (I'm paraphrasing what the techie told me :P).
Anyways, since I've had the battery swapped (free installation at Sam's Club), my headlights are now very DIM (glowing very faintly) in NIGHTTIME running mode (even dimmer than they WOULD be in daytime running mode) & this is when the left hand wand is turned all the way TO THE FRONT & the interior lights are ON (?!)
When that same wand is turned all the way to the BACK, in the position that SHOULD be DAYTIME running mode, only my left headlight is on, and it's as bright as it should be in NIGHTTIME running mode?? (the right bulb is OFF completely -- i suspect it's burnt out, although for a few days before I had my battery replaced, the lighting settings were proper, but the right was DIMMER than the left in DAYTIME mode & off completely in NIGHTTIME mode).
Can anyone demonstrate their expertise & offer some helpful advice? That would be great b/c a fully functional lighting system is crucial with the lesser daylight hours of the season & with my high mileage habits at night, I can't be choosing b/n a lit interior vs. brightER headlights & rear lights OFF!
Thanks.

well I'd start pulling the DRL (daytime running lights) fuse and checking your brightness level with the lights turned on. and yes, your one bulb sounds like it's burned out.
also make sure the ground lead on the battery is TIGHT and CLEAN.
check all your fuses while you're at it... it doesn't hurt to check just to eliminate some stupid isht.
