Rust forming after repaint/rust removal

Hey everyone,

I jsut repainted and had the rust removed from my car about 6 months ago. It looked fine for a while but now im noticing a small ring of rust around the inner rear wheel well. I also got the car rust proofed right after it was repainted.

Now I was under the assumption that when you get the rust removed properly the car should be rust free for a few years. The body shop claims that the rust was cut out and new metal was welded in but I dindt actually see them work on my car.

I also thought that annual rust proofing would protect parts like the wheel wells from rusting.

So my questions are

1. is this normal?

2. who do I flip out on the body shop or the rust proofer?

Thanks

its actually no ones fault.
if its bubbling from the area where it was welded then its normal.
the only way to get it done proper is to have the metal brazed or rustproofed and undercoated right after it gets welded.

ok, if it's a ring of rust about the size of the rust that was previously there, then you got hoodwinked. cuz in that case, all they did was grind the bubbling rust away, slap bondo on it, and painted it.
in my (limited) experience, rust from welding, after a decent paint job, won't show up for 3-4 years.

easiest way to tell prolly is to peel back the interior trim panels from the trunk and see if it was welded or not. then you can flip out.

Thanks so much for the quick replys

its not rusting from where they welded. the ring of rust is on teh most inner part of the wheel well. The old rusted area was about an inch aroudn the entire wheel well and the new rust is right in teh wheel well. It looks like the new metal piece is starting to rust if it is in fact a new metal piece.

I would think the body shop would take actions to ensure that teh rust will not return. I guess I shouldnt even bother to return to that body shop and complain since theyll jsut do another crap job.
