paint job on bumper

Hi,

I have a question. I need to get a new bumper and have it painted. However, I do not know the color code of it. Is it possible to have the painting people to match the colour?

well how do you know what color to paint it? If youre painting it the same color as your car, the paint code is on the side of the door.

Well, I'd go back to the previous owner and ask him/her what the paint code is....if they don't know it or remember it, ask where it was done.....then go to the shop that did it and ask them. if they don't have it, you might be outta luck.

If it was done in a way that the guys just kept adding different pigments to the mix until that got a colour they liked.....good luck.
Ie.....pearls and flakes are almost impossible to match if you don't know the mixing ratio that they used.

As for other colours, they can can pretty close, but without knowing the exact paint code, they can only do that....get close.

Good luck.

Most good shops woun't bother with paint codes, paint will fade as it's in the sun and stuff.

Most good shops have a hand held scanner with a computer and they use it to match the paint.

That's good. Which shops have this feature?
